A short career that has seen it all ,from extreme lows to the boss himself but for some odd reasons he has always received woes only even for the positive things he has done for his country.Starting from his 1st class career,he was always ignored due to a solid established middle order in Inzamam, Yousuf and Younis.
He was initially given an edge over Younis when he started his international career and had a successful ODI start but opposite happened in Test cricket due to his weakness against the short ball and was sidelined since then. After a long break,he made his way back in the 1st T 20 World Cup on the basis of his strong continuous domestic performances where he almost did it for Pakistan and responded to all his critics with his blade
Technically speaking Misbah was never as naturally talented as the Inzamam's and the Yousuf's.But what he possessed was strong temperament ,calm head and sound exposure on his job,but he had to manage all this with his limited talent of strokes.Misbah only hits it if tha ball is in his arc otherwise he will fend it no matter what due to which he has not been appreciated or praised much in a country where you only need one strong performance to become a star.Unfortunately he gets undeserving woes sometimes,True are the facts that he plays too slow on most occasions and leaves his side behind the asking rate but despite of all these things he must be credited for what he has done since his comeback as a captain. He has not lost a series yet as a captain,YES weak sides mostly but a win is a win nevertheless.
His personal performance has been phenomenal in all formats .He is averaging over 60 as a captain in both Tests and ODIS and has an overall strike rate of more then 75 in limited overs ,so what more can you ask for?? The biggest achievement of Misbah to me is how he has changed the environment of the dressing room, this has not been highlighted but since his arrival there has not been any quarrel or disciplinary issues in and out of the field, which certainly speaks for the MAN's calming influence amongst the team.Despite of all his critics ,his educated nature is certainly guiding the troops in the right direction and he must be credited for this whole heartedly.

Do tell me about his "phenomenal" average once England visits UAE. And how many man of match awards have he won?
But I agree that he is very calm. He was too calm to have plans of chasing down India's 260 within 50 overs and had plans of perhaps staying 2 more days at the pitch.
World always remembers match-winners and fighters. Michael Bevan had average of 56, but could never prove the test credentials. Such a greedy for average players come and go, but never mark a sign on eternal history.
World always remembers fighters like Imrn, Hadlee, Boham, Vettori, Fleming, Flintoff, Afridi, etc despite their low averages.
If average were everything, then Afridi has more test average than Ranatunga, Nasser Hossain and Hanse Cronje
Well i personally agree with most of your comment and these certainly are facts but the whole theme in writing this article was 2 make people realize and appreciate whats good without being biased.
He certainly is not a match winner nor he has been an attraction for anyone and i have reflected all this in my article, thing is he never gets appreciation on deserving things, which is wrong.
you see we have always had stars in our side but never been consistent, poor dressing room environment being one of the main causes.Under him there has not been any quarrels or lobbies so far which to me is a very strong achievement.
With all the due respect to your comment,i hope my perspective of writing this is clear.
