PCB hunt committee has decided to display the name of head coach and specialist coaches after Bangladesh tour, with the incumbent in place for next January's series against England. Dav Whatmore is seen as the head coach of Pakistan cricket team, Mohsin Khan as batting, Aaqib Javed bowling coach while Julien Fountain tipped fielding roles.
Col Naushad Ali, assistant manager of the national team, said the committee had made its decision
"The person we have picked as head coach is very well suited to Pakistan, He is the one who suits the temperament of Pakistan cricket and of its team."
Whatmore, was linked with the post on an earlier occasion, when the PCB picked Jeff Lawson. Currently he is the coach of Kolkata Knight Rides in IPL. When a private media contacted Whatmore, he refused to give any answer regarding this issue. According to him: "I can't say anything, "I am in no position to say anything."
According to sources, PCB had set up a meeting between Alam and Whatmore under the Ijaz Butt regime but was cancelled following the change in administration. Pakistan team has been playing for 5months without a special coach after Waqar Younis resigned due to health grounds. Mohsin is acting as interim coach since Sri Lanka series, as an interim coach Mohsin had some good series. According to Mohsin Khan:
"I think I have done fairly a good job," Khan said. "I haven't applied for the coaching job but if they ask me to carry on, I'd love to do so."
