After a great margin win in 4th ODI and record inning of Sehwag, West Indies traveled Chennai for final ODI to go back home at least with 2 wins in 5 matches ODI series. Sehwag was given rest in the 5th ODI, the captain responsibilities was given to the left handed batsman Gautham Ghambir.
The two captains Daren Sammy and Gautham Ghambir met at toss, India once again won the toss and elected to bat first. India went out with Ghambir and Rahane to open the innings but failed and last the 2 batsmen in very first over of the match. At a time when the score was 84/3. Tiwary and Kohli defended the upcoming Indian players wicket from West Indies bowlers. Both players made 117 runs partnership for the 4th wicket, Tiwary couldn't continue his inning after scoring 104 runs and was retired due to injury. Virat Kohli scored 80 runs and was caught by Samuel on the bowl of Martin. The score was 241 runs when he got out, he was the 4th wicket for India.
India batsmen added 26 runs in last 4.5 overs after Kohli out, IRfan Pathan was the last batsman run out on 4 runs. India managed to score 267 runs in 50.0 overs and gave West Indies 268 runs target to win. Tiwary was the top scorer for India who scored 104 runs. Roach and Martin picked 2, 2 wickets for West Indies.
West Indies openers came out to chase the target of 268 runs, the former black storm struggled against Indian bowlers and lost early wickets. At a time when the score was 78/5, Pollard and Russel built partnership of 89 runs for the 6th wicket. Both batsmen batted sensibly which brought back the West Indies into the game, unfortunately Russel ran out on 53 runs. After Russel no other batsman stood with Pollard to make it West Indies day, al though the well know hitter smashed some huge sixes and scored 100 runs but it was not enough though. Rehane took a brilliant catch at the boundary on the ball of Raina, West Indies team bowled out on 233 runs. Pollard was the top scorer who scored 119 runs, including ten 6's and and four 4's. West indies lost the 5th ODI by 34 runs, Jadeja picked 3 for 64 while Irfan Pathan and Mithun took 2, 2 wickets.
With this win India won the series by 4-1, Rohit Sharma for his brilliant performance with bat through out the series was given man of the series award. Tiwary was given man of the match award for his century at the time when the team was struggling.

The run out of Russel was the turning point
West Indies will be ruining the fact that they did not have gayle otherwise it would have been a really even series
