Transition in West Indies cricket

There was a time in cricket when black storm ruled cricket like Muslims ruled subcontinent. Their rule begin in late 70’s and they dominate the cricket world till early 90’s. During their reign they produce cricketer’s who will be remembered till the end. Stars like Viv Richards , Clive Lloyd, Micheal Holding, Jeff Dujon, Joel Garner make westindies shine for long long time. It seems like no contry could ever rule cricket like they did. In early 90,s these players retired .

This left a youthful and inexperienced side. Indeed after Richards' retirement the only players with significant experience were Richie Richardson (the captain), Desmond Haynes who was soon dropped, Gus Logie, who was recalled and Roger Harper who came and went. However, this did not immediately affect their performance. Richie Richardson capably picked up the captaincy from Richards and Brian Lara was waiting in the wings, as were a new crop of young players such as Ian Bishop, Jimmy Adams, Carl Hooper, Phil Simmons, Keith Arthur ton and Winston Benjamin

However every rise has a fall but its important to focus on the forces that led them to lead for that long era. In past five years there is a drastic in change in West Indies cricket .They have contract problems with West Indies cricket board that not only effect the cricketers but cricket too. When I think about the time they ruled ,several questions came to my mind. Was God kind enough on West Indies that he blessed them with such legends ?  or might be there was a proper system that polished the talent well and resolved their issues in a proper way .Most of you will agree with the latter one. No doubt good players interests should be valued for the sake of cricket.

There is a need of maturity in West Indies cricket board that makes them capable of resolving problems and for the betterment of cricket legends like Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo. Lets wish West Indies to resolve their issues as soon as possible and they come back more stronger then they were before.
