Time for Faysal Bank T20 advertisement
Once there was a time when cold drinks were supposed to be the most un-hygienic drink. But now a days the dinner is not completed without cold drink, although it is still un-hygienic. The thing which made an unnecessary, a necessary is no more than ADVERTISEMENT.
Advertisement is a basic need of any product, program, etc. Its a key to success in today's world. Well! First advertisement was only done for any product or program. But now any event is incomplete without it.
Well! coming to the cricket by describing it.. Actually cricket is a game, game of gentlemen so said, played between two teams consisting of 11 players in each team. That's the words of dictionary, but actually, cricket is too much more than it. Its a passion, its a love, its a profession, its a job, its a responsibility and now it has also become a war. Although its a source of peace, but along this, its a cold war which is been fought between the countries. Its a war of making money through the cricket and to rule in the cricket world.
This wish of ruling cricket world has made the cricket a note-making machine. This wish gave birth to a new cricket format, called Twenty20 cricket, to get more money in short time. Countries like Australia, England, Sri Lanka, etc. have introduced their country's domestic Twenty20 leagues which are being played between the domestic teams, but the players are invited all over the world to get people interested. Simply to get more viewership to get more TV commercials and sponsors to get more financial benefits. This greed of financial benefits have made the players more busy and loaded. Even that players get injuries and mental pressure during the domestic tournaments, which effects their international performance from their country side.
Well! Along with these disadvantages, it has the same advantages also. The viewership of cricket increases, which helps promoting cricket. And a competitive atmosphere is formed. And the most important advantage is its financial benefits.
Australia's KFC Big Bash T20 Tournament is also ready to make some finance through exciting cricket. England's Friend Life T20 Championship is also going on. Sri Lanka's Sri Lankan Premier League is all set to be started. While Pakistan's Faysal Bank T20 Cup has neither got any popularity nor any huge viewership. The thing behind it is just lack of advertisement. In the mid of June, I came to know about the Faysal Bank T20 Cup, which started at 24th June, and is set to be finished at 1st July. A very few Pakistan's cricket lover knows about it.
The cup lost its more popularity, when the local stars like Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz, Abdul Razzaq, Umar Gull, Saeed Ajmal didn't attend the league, preferring county cricket over the Faysal Bank T20 Cup.
Its time for PCB to make some arrangements to increase the interest of people towards the domestic tournaments like this. PCB should consider following steps to create a successful league:
1. Frenchaise of the teams should be auctioned, in which the local famous show-business or social personalities should asked for bid.
2. The matches of the tournament must be played in all cities.
3. Local cricket stars must be asked to play the league.
4. A proper advertising campaign should be made.
5. At least some of the Asian players must be invited to play the league, which will help to increase the viewership of the tournament.
6. Local and foreign investors should be invited for investment.
I thinks cricket is the best place for investing now a days. T20 has made cricket a business and that's not a wrong thing according to me. PCB must take some advantage of it. I am sure these thing will help PCB to overcome their financial problems as well as to get a respectable state in cricket world, and more than all, it will help Pakistan to be a stable state.
