India (234/6 in 46.4 overs) beat Sri Lanka (233.8 in 50.0 overs) by 8 wickets.
The two Asian sides who are going through bad situation faced each other at Perth in Triangular ODI series, once again the leadership of Sri Lanka was given to Jaywardene. Sri Lanka after winning the toss elected to bat first, the start for Sri Lanka was not good as they lost Tharanga in third over on 4 runs. After losing Tharanga, Dilshan and Sangakara built 63 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket. Sangakara was the 2nd victim of India, he was caught by Dhoni on 26 runs.
Dilshan tried to built another partnership with Chandimal but failed as he fell short to 50. Sri Lanka managed to score 233 runs in 50.0 overs after losing 8 wickets, youngster Chandimal didn't give any chance to opposition bowlers to stop him. He scored 64 runs and was the top scorer for his side. Ashwin made 3 victims while Zaheer Khan got 2 wickets.
India stated the innings with Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar, the blue shirts received the first blow in shape of Sehwag, he scored 10 runs. Tendulkar was looking good and was expected to make his 100th hundred in the match. He laid a partnership of 75 runs with Kohli for 2nd wicket, India crowds disappointed as Tendulkar got out before 50. He scored 48 runs, this was not the first time that he get out before 100.
At the time when wickets were falling, Kohli tried his best to controls the match from the other end. His innings came to an end when he was on 77. Young all-rounders Jadeja and Ashwin partnership for the 7 wicket made it India day. Jadeja and Ashwin remained unbeaten on 24* and 33 runs. India achieved the target in 46.4 overs, Mathews took 2 wickets for Sri Lanka. Ashwin for his all-round performance was also given man of the match award.
