Chennai gets revenge from Pune

Chennai Super Kings 164 for 5 (du Plessis 58, Samuels 3-39) beat Pune Warriors 151 for 7 (Mathews 27, Kulasekara 2-10) by 13 runs

Chennai with their super performance in front of their home crowds made the thrill in their favor against Pune Warriors. Altough the side had lost the previous match against Gangully XI five days ago but had much spirits to win this one. Dhoni master mind and bowlers impressive performance in last overs entertained their crowds with the victory.

The match has very much importance for Dhoni and Gangully as it was considered Dada (Gangully) vs Captain cool (Dhoni) mach.

Pune Warriors India succeeded to control the inning after early falls, some partnerships were built but the batsmen failed to get advantage of those partnerships and lost by 13 runs.

Faf du Plessis kept going with the superb form in the tournament, although his master knocks in earlier matches couldn't win the match for the side but this time he was well set to provide a century partnership with the other opener Badrinath.

Du Plessis was wise enough to get the advantage  of his dropped catch in earlier overs. Plessis with the help of Badrinath start thrashing the bowlers of Pune and didn't provide them any opportunity to control the match. Both the batsmen got out on same fashion to Mathews after scoring their fifties, Samuels was the fielder who caught them.

The Warriors came back in the match after removing the pair, again Chennai takes the match away from them with 39 runs that Kings batsmen took in last 3 overs. Dhoni master hitting in death over helped his team to put a total of 164/5 on the board. It was a much needed innings from Dhoni who was not that impressive in this season like the previous seasons.

In chase of 165 runs the Warriors batting line hesitated as some brilliant fielding efforts of Chennai removed their Top 4 batsmen on 64 runs. Marlon Samuels tried his best to take the game away from Super Kings but failed to do so as he seemed in hurry to go back to dressing room.

Pressure kept building on Warriors with each ball, also full tosses were provided to Pune batsmen but they failed to send them for boundaries. Smith and Mathews were going well with the partnership but they were not that good to boost the run rate instead of required run rate. Only 2 fours were smashed in last 8 overs which shows that how slow they were going. Pune Warriors India managed to score 151/7 in 20 overs and lost the match by 13 runs.
