Dav Whatmore suggests separate players for three formats

Pakistan Cricket Team Coach Dav Whatmore presented the idea of having different teams for the three different formats. Whatmore said in his recent interview that he was ready to face challenges in the coming days as the Coach of the Pakistan team. Dav Whatmore said that he favours having separate players for the three different formats of the sport. Whatmore said that he enjoyed the full support of Zaka Ashraf. He added, he had taken up the job because he saw it as a challenge and was already enjoying working in Pakistan Cricket Board and Pakistan Team."


Whatmore appreciates Pakistan's talent. He said, "The depth of talent in Pakistan cricket is amazing. I got a chance to see the talent while witnessing the recent domestic events in Rawalpindi and Lahore".

Former Australian Test batsman joined the Pakistan team and replaced Mohsin Khan, right before the Asia Cup last month. he said, "It will take alot of time to make Pakistan Team a top cricket nation. In our way to glory Pakistan Team will also face many challenges and difficult times in future but it can be done".

Whatmore praised Pakistan fielding coach's efforts and said, Julian Fountain had already prepared six month, 12 month and 18 month plans for individual players to further polish their talents. Many reports came in media that Whatmore was a hard person to get alongwith and that in the past he had faced problems while working with the Sri Lankan and Bangladesh teams, Whatmore said many things written about him were not true."A lot of the perception of me as a person and coach is wrong,".

Whatmore said, that he enjoyed a good relationship with the national selection committee as he believed in team work. He is the fourth foreign coach hired by the PCB since 1999, said he enjoyed his first experience with the team in the recent Asia Cup. Pakistan team recently won the Asia's biggest title after 12 years under Whatmore's coaching. Whatmore said, "Unfortunately we couldn't win all our matches in the tournament but we ended up bringing back the champs title and cup home and that gave me satisfaction. The defeat to India was a setback but they played well on that day,".
